Owen had an AWESOME week with his feeding! I'm so proud of him! He works so hard and he struggles so much just to even look at certain foods, let alone touch and eat them.
He ate a tiny (maybe 1 inch) piece of angel hair pasta! This is huge for him, as he doesn't eat any pasta other than bow tie pasta (did eat shells at one point, but not anymore) and only with spaghetti sauce (homemade with no meat/veggies).
He also ate a strawberry waffle, which was really funny. He recently started eating waffles, which is great. We've been experimenting with different waffles, having him try all different kinds (his favorite, by far, is French Toast Waffles). Anyway, he looked at the strawberry waffle and refused to even try it, saying it had pink spots and he doesn't like pink spots. So I took a tiny bite off and hid the pink (with my fingers). Eventually he agreed to try the bite.... and liked it. Little by little he ate the whole waffle! Pink spots and all ;) But he didn't actually see any of the pink spots go in his mouth. LOL! So he likes the taste of strawberry waffles, but not the looks.
He ate a tiny bite of brownie this week too! Also huge for him! He swallowed it but refused a second bite. Still, huge progress. And how many parents of a 4 year old cheer when they can get him to eat a bite of brownie?!? LOL!
Last night he drank some green powerade! HUGE considering he only drinks water and OJ for us (though he has tried a few other juices with his OT). But he drank the powerade for us! He wanted to be like Jason, who was drinking if after his soccer game. Cute.
Then today at feeding therapy he ate a couple bites of a rice cake with peanut butter on it (a mixed food! YES!). And he also ate cheddar cheese (new food) with mustard on it (new food AND he made them into a mixed food by dipping the cheese in the mustard)!!! Huge success and we are thrilled with it!
I think we're looking at releasing him from PT in another 5ish weeks. Yay! He's doing great with it, we can see huge improvements with him.
Just had to share my happy/proud moments after that last post. Owen really is doing amazing!
