So, the results of the heart monitor is that my heart rate went up a LOT during exercise (more than it should) but that when I stopped exercising it went down. So apparently that's fine. Cool. Don't know why it goes up that high, and the dr didn't say, but as long as I have the all clear to exercise again I'm fine.
Results of the blood test were all fine, with the exception of my glucose level. That was at 114, which is pre-diabetic. Who knows what that really means. Could be a funky result and mean nothing, could just be a one time thing, could be a real result that I need to actually listen to. For now I'm treating it as a warning and trying to cut back on pasta (NOOOO!!!! LOL!) and (hehe.... right....) exercise more ;)

Wow. I'm shocked!
Let me preface this by saying we live in a nice neighborhood. It's a newish little subdivision with mainly young couples and families. Definately not a bad neighborhood at all.
Last week Owen and I bought some plants for our container garden (tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, yellow squash, zucchini, green peppers, red peppers and parsley). We hadn't planted them yet because a couple nights were still cold so I would have to bring them into the garage. But I left them outside the last couple nights. This morning I checked on them and they were all fine (we had some storms last night). We all went out shopping for a few hours. When we came home, Jason went to work and Owen and I went outside to plant our garden. Only to find our zucchini gone. Someone stole our zucchini! They must really like zucchini and not the other veggies. LOL! I find it a little funny, in a disturbing way. Seriously. Someone stole 1 zucchini plant and left everything else. Huh. How weird.
What irks me though is we went out to buy another one and walmart and lowe's are both out of them! I'll have to try meijer but that sucks to have to use more gas just to go get a silly plant. Bummer.
But, I'll post some pictures of our little garden soon! We also bought chives today to plant :)

Eating progress.....
Owen had an AWESOME week with his feeding! I'm so proud of him! He works so hard and he struggles so much just to even look at certain foods, let alone touch and eat them.
He ate a tiny (maybe 1 inch) piece of angel hair pasta! This is huge for him, as he doesn't eat any pasta other than bow tie pasta (did eat shells at one point, but not anymore) and only with spaghetti sauce (homemade with no meat/veggies).
He also ate a strawberry waffle, which was really funny. He recently started eating waffles, which is great. We've been experimenting with different waffles, having him try all different kinds (his favorite, by far, is French Toast Waffles). Anyway, he looked at the strawberry waffle and refused to even try it, saying it had pink spots and he doesn't like pink spots. So I took a tiny bite off and hid the pink (with my fingers). Eventually he agreed to try the bite.... and liked it. Little by little he ate the whole waffle! Pink spots and all ;) But he didn't actually see any of the pink spots go in his mouth. LOL! So he likes the taste of strawberry waffles, but not the looks.
He ate a tiny bite of brownie this week too! Also huge for him! He swallowed it but refused a second bite. Still, huge progress. And how many parents of a 4 year old cheer when they can get him to eat a bite of brownie?!? LOL!
Last night he drank some green powerade! HUGE considering he only drinks water and OJ for us (though he has tried a few other juices with his OT). But he drank the powerade for us! He wanted to be like Jason, who was drinking if after his soccer game. Cute.
Then today at feeding therapy he ate a couple bites of a rice cake with peanut butter on it (a mixed food! YES!). And he also ate cheddar cheese (new food) with mustard on it (new food AND he made them into a mixed food by dipping the cheese in the mustard)!!! Huge success and we are thrilled with it!
I think we're looking at releasing him from PT in another 5ish weeks. Yay! He's doing great with it, we can see huge improvements with him.
Just had to share my happy/proud moments after that last post. Owen really is doing amazing!

Well....
The interview went well and was a train wreck at the same time. I nailed the interview. I think I pretty much have the job, if I want it. The person doing the interviewing was talking as if I already had the job. The next step is to go get all the fun testing done (drug screening, allowing for criminal records and such to be released). It would be a raise ($.81/hour raise). The hours would be 6:30-3:00 (so I would have time to do stuff during the day still). I would be working the infant room (woo-hoo!).
But, I'm turning down the job. Why? Because of blatent discrimination. They won't allow Owen in the daycare. And the director flat out told me it's because of his special needs. Because "we aren't equipped to handle a child like that". "Like that". As if my child has some sort of disease that's going to spread to the other children like wild fire. As if he's going to go in there and harm all their precious children because he's a freaking animal. I am still in shock. The director of the daycare (who did the interview) is also the director of the preschool (who I've talked to about Owen) so she knows about Owen and she knows about his special needs.
Now, I've had people imply that Owen can't do something or join something because of his special needs. But I have never, EVER, had someone flat out tell me that Owen can't do something because of his special needs. Never have I/Owen been that insulted. I am still shocked. Really. This is a REHAB hospital for people with SPECIAL NEEDS. They have a whole building dedicated to CHILDREN with SPECIAL NEEDS. And then they seriously turn around and say my special needs child can't attend their daycare?!? That one stings, let me tell you. I am so upset for Owen. I'm very thankful he has no idea what happened but I am still just burning up thinking about it.
Seriously. I will be turning down the job and as soon as I have confirmation that Owen is in the preschool (which, unfortunately, won't be for a couple months) I will be sending a letter to the president of the hospital. I actually had second thoughts about sending him to the preschool here, given what just happened, but everyone I've talked to (all his therapists, the director, etc) feel that this preschool is exactly what he needs. I think he will do very well in it and I've not found another program I like nearly as much. So I'm still putting him in the preschool, but once I know he's accepted I will be sending a letter explaining what I feel about this discrimination.

Cross your fingers!
I just put in an application/resume for a job that I really really want. The place Owen gets his therapy at has a preschool program (which we're pretty sure he'll get into this fall). He'll be able to get all his therapy while in preschool. It's 4 days a week for 3 hours a day. The same place also has a daycare. This daycare is hiring! This would be PERFECT! If I stay at my current job then when Owen starts preschool I'll only be able to work afternoons (20 hours a week). Which is okay, but I would like to be able to work more (but would be unable to since I would have to drop off/pick up Owen). If I have a job at the daycare onsite then Owen can go to the preschool and then just go over to the daycare until I'm out of work! They have a pt position (20 hours) and a ft position (40 hours). I applied for the ft one. This would be absolutely perfect and, in reality, would save me a lot of money on gas (since I'll already be driving there 4 days a week for his preschool anyway). If I have to drive to that side of town 4 days a week and then to the other side of town 5 days a week (the preschool and my current job are on the complete opposite sides of town)... that's alot of gas!
Anyway, cross your fingers please!! This would be the absolute perfect solution for us right now!!!

Crap.
We made it about a month without any illnesses (other than the common runny nose that never goes away). That's not too bad, right?
And then today comes. Or, rather, tonight. Because he did great all day while Jason had him (I had class from 7:45-3:30). He went to his soccer, played at the park, went to the grocery store, etc. He had a great time and Jason said he was fine. I got home and Jason went to work. Owen fell asleep shortly after I got home. Shortly after he woke up he started puking. Lovely. 5 times and counting over the last 2 hours. Looks like it'll be a looooong night for me. At least he's getting good at getting it in the bucket....

Earthquake!!
Since people have asked (on here and text messages) I'll answer... nope, I slept through my very first earthquake. LOL! I woke up to my phone beeping around 7:45 (I think??) this morning, a text from Sam asking if I was okay. Thanks for checking up on me, and yes, we're fine :) I didn't feel anything, and neither did Jason. Owen slept all night so I assume he didn't feel anything. There are some people here who did feel it though. A couple friends of ours said that they woke up to their bed shaking. They live a little north of us, on the other side of Lexington.
Not much else to update on. I need to go clean. I have a class tomorrow (7:45am-3:30pm) so Jason's watching Owen until around 3:00 (when he has to go to work) and his parents are coming over to do the last little bit. Last night we ended up moving the stove, fridge, washer and dryer and cleaning behind those. Not fun! LOL! But it needed to be done.
Have a good weekend!
