Quick update...

No, we didn't fall off the planet. Nor did we run away and stay at Disney World :) We are back home, but super busy.

We had a blast at Disney! Owen LOVED LOVED LOVED it and made a TON of progress while there. Jason and I were amazed. We will definitely try to get back next year :)

But, as most of you know, Owen got sick while on vacation. We left on a Saturday morning and got to Disney on Sunday afternoon. We played at Magic Kingdom Sunday afternoon/evening. Monday we spent the day at Magic Kingdom again. Tuesday we went to Sea World. This day Owen started to get a bit cranky but couldn't/wouldn't tell us what was going on. Wednesday we went to Hollywood Studios. 2 hours into the visit there he was crying that his ear hurt. On one hand- that sucks. On the other hand he FINALLY told us when he was in pain! Of course, we assumed ear infection (cause, ya know, the kids had a million of those). We called his pediatricians office who was kind enough to fax a script for antibiotics to a drugstore near Disney. We left Hollywood Studios and ran to get it (side note- I will never do that again! This place doesn't accept insurance but they give you a receipt that you can send to your insurance company for reimbursement. Only I didn't realize Medicaid will NOT reimburse for any drugs and I should have found a drugstore that accepts the Medicaid. Oops! That was a $98.13 mistake. Oh well, at least he got the meds). We spent the afternoon at the hotel. Later that afternoon we ran out to Best Buy (story on why later...). Owen fell asleep in the car so after that Jason and I went to a nice dinner (with Owen laying down in the booth). By Wednesday evening his ear was oozing all sorts of nasty stuff. In all his ear infections I've never seen anything that gross.

Thursday we went to Animal Kingdom. We had a character breakfast there with Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. It's a stupidly expensive breakfast buffet where the 4 characters come around to each table to take pictures with each kid and spend a minute or two with each kid. It was really cute and well worth the money for the memories. But if I think about how much money we paid for 1/2 a banana and a handful of home fries that Owen ate... I'll cry. Anyway, back to why we went to Best Buy the previous day.... Owen's been obsessed with a movie called Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Mickey Saves Santa for over a month. We could not find this movie anywhere. We assumed we'd find it at Disney World. Wrong. A very helpful person at one of the stores gave us the number to the main disney line to call. We did on that Monday morning and they searched their computer inventory for every store on the Disney World site and nobody had it. Doh! Jason came to the rescue and found it (online) at a Best Buy in Kissimmee! So, that's why we went there. Anyway, so we bought the movie and on Thursday at breakfast we snuck it to the waitress. While I took Owen to the buffet she snuck it onto the table along with a card signed by the 4 characters and it said "We found what you've been looking for". The look on his face was priceless! It was worth all the money in the world. Unfortunately, Jason had the camera so we didn't capture it on film. (We didn't realize it was on the table, otherwise I would have waited for Jason before going back to the table with Owen). Anyway, he LOVED it. He was so thrilled he didn't let go of it for the entire meal. Everytime a character came around he would hop up and show it to them and tell them all about it (and thanked them for it, of course). Definitely one of the most memorable parts of the trip :) And a huge THANK YOU ALLISON! Your birthday money went towards this breakfast. Thank you thank you thank you! We also splurged this time and bought the picture package. They take your picture before the meal and then come to the table to offer it to you. We almost always say no, but this picture came out really well and it really was a memorable breakfast so we couldn't pass it by.

So... Thursday we spent at Animal Kingdom. Friday we got a park hopper pass (thanks to one of Jason's friends who works at Disney) and a water park pass. So we went to Blizzard Beach first. Owen wasn't feeling too good though so he mostly just wanted to lay on my lap in a tube thingy and float down the lazy river. After that we had lunch at the hotel (after driving around for about 2 hours to find a Little Ceasers for Owen) then hit Epcot for about 2 hours then Magic Kingdom for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Saturday we spent at Magic Kingdom, but Owen still wasn't feeling too well so we took a couple hour break in the afternoon at the hotel. By this time he'd been on antibiotics for 3 days and he wasn't doing any better and his ear was oozing TONS.

Saturday night is when things took a turn for the worse. At about 4am Owen was laying in bed just moaning. I went to feel him and he was super hot. I didn't have a thermometor so Jason called to the front desk to ask them if they had any. They did so I threw some clothes on and went down. I went back up to the room and O's temp was between 103-104 the rest of the night. So, in the morning we took him to the ER (we didn't want to be driving and nowhere near a hospital if he was really ill). They said ear infection, swimmers ear and a upper respiratory infection and sent us on our way with a script for an ear drop antibiotic (to take along with the oral one he'd been on). We drove Sunday and Monday and got back to Kentucky Monday afternoon. By monday afternoon he still was not any better. Still having temps in the 103-104, still oozing tons, not acting any better. So, Tuesday morning we went back to the dr. She said he has "the worst ear infection I've seen in years" along with a sinus infection. She took him off those 2 antibiotics he was on and put him on 2 more antibiotics (1 oral and 1 ear drops) and claritin, which we can't get him to take. He's also been using his inhaler most nights because he's been wheezing too much.

So... fast forward to today... no more fever. Barely any oozing (finally!). Acting a bit better but still cranky. However, he fell asleep while we were out shopping just before 6pm. It's now after 11pm and he's still sleeping. I finally put him into his bed. He'll either sleep all night or he'll be up in a few hours, just as I'm going to sleep. Could make for a long night.

That's about it for now. Pictures to come as soon as I get time :)
