Stuff

First the school stuff- everything went great. They agreed to everything I asked for (which is shocking in and of itself since schools generally do NOT like to spend more money). They even agreed to one test/assessment (Allison- it's the SIPT), which surprised me because his OT at the school is not qualified to give it, which means they need to find another OT who is qualified. But, they agreed to it!

We have another meeting on April 7th, after all the testing is done.

We will then have another meeting in May to transition him to Kindergarten. We talked a little about it today and everyone agrees that there is no doubt he needs an aide still for next year. At the end the principal took us up to the Kindergarten rooms to take a peek. We'll go again for a longer length in April before we decide which teacher we want for him. As of now there are 4 rooms for Kindergarten. We ruled out one right away because that one has a back door in it that leads to some corridor that leads to where the delivery trucks deliver food to the kitchen. If he escapes out that door he will certainly be in a dangerous situation. So that one is not going to be an option. The other 3 rooms do not have a back door, but are within feet of the door in the hallway leading to the outside. ARGH! So, the plan we talked about, and the situation we would like the most, is to have Owen's aide from this year move up to Kindergarten with him next year. That way he has someone who is familiar with him to help with the transition. The principal would also like the teacher assistant to be this particular assistant who has been with the school for a long time. We are crossing our fingers that this will happen.

As for the car insurance crap.... we finally got all of it figured out. Apparently what had happened was there was someone with my same first name, same middle initial and a slightly different last name who had the exact same drivers license number as me but licensed in a different state. She was in an accident in a 2003 Dodge Durango in March 2007 while in Michigan. Apparently someone, somewhere, made a mistake and put that her license was from Michigan (since that was where the accident was, I guess). Which linked it back to my license instead of hers. But, all is better now. Phew! Although the State Farm rep we talked to thinks it's very possible that for the last 18 months Allstate has been making me pay higher premiums than I should have been because of this accident. Grrr. I'll have to call them and see, but I'm not sure there's anything I could do about it anyway.

For the WONDERFUL news! Owen wore a shirt AND pants (with no pj's) for about 4 hours today!!!! This is HUGE news and is something that hasn't happened in... ohh... 6 months? It started because he said he wanted to "go fishing". So I played along and told him that he can't fish in his pj's- he has to wear fishing clothes. So he put on a pair of grey sweatpants and a blue t-shirt. We went outside to go fishing (took a bowl of water and put some of his little plastic fish in there for him to fish out). After a little while he decided he wanted to go for a run around the block (with his endless energy). Then he decided he wanted to go to the mall playplace. He was there for a little bit, then we got lunch and went to work/daycare. He stayed in his clothes until about 4:30, when he accidently got a drop of pee on them while going potty (which, ya know, means we have to change the entire outfit). He switched into pj's at that time.

And now for the crappy news. While at the mall playplace Owen climbed on one of the structures and tried to jump to another one. He didn't make it and his (shoeless) foot hit the second structure. He fell to the ground and screamed out in pain. I picked him up and sat down on a bench with him. His foot wasn't obviously injured and he said he wanted to keep playing. I figured he'd shake it off so I let him. He crawled (yes, didn't walk) to the structure, climbed back up and jumped off again.... only to land in a heap of screaming crying mess. So I picked him up and brought him to the car, where I called the dr. Dr said since it wasn't swelling much then it's probably not a break and to just watch it for a few hours. It was about time to go to work so we went there. By the time I got off work he was limping around on it. After we got home he wanted to play on the computer. Jason told him if his foot hurt he needed to go to the dr and couldn't play on the computer. If his foot was okay then he could play on the computer. He suddenly was hopping (although gingerly) on that foot. LOL! That ruled out that trip for an x-ray! Before he went to sleep he was still favoring the other foot and was limping a little, but hopefully by morning he'll be fine.
